After doing some pretty intense hunting around, I finally discovered that theCanon MP470was the right printer for my son. He was going away to participate in a research program, as part of his Masters of journalism program. He would be printing extensively, and he really needed the convenience of having one of his own.

I knew that my brother had just gotten a new printer, a Canon MP470 model, so I called him up to find out how he liked it. He told me that he "loved it", and got it for WELL under a hundred bucks on Amazon.com. Unfortunately, I could not see my brother's Canon Pixma MP470 in "action", because he lives out of state.

So, I started to call around to see if any of our local stores carry it. I managed to find two office supply type stores that carry it, however, it wasn't currently in stock. Apparently, the MP470 is a popular model, and somewhat difficult to keep on hand.

Finally, on the advice of my brother, I went online to get some info about the Canon MP470 from Amazon.com. I started to read some reviews, which, for the most part, were positive. As a matter of fact, the average review was 4 out of 5 stars!

So, after reading one last, very positive MP470 review, and seeing that I could save about 30 bucks, I decided to buy the mp470!

The Canon MP470 Proves Good Things Come In Small Packages!

The Mp470 arrived within the scheduled time in perfect condition. I noticed right off the bat, that it was VERY compact! According to the specs, it only weighs about 13 pounds. I had an old Epson inkjet that I bought in 1992, that weighed 31 pounds!!

The Canon Mp470 is an all-in-one printer, as well!

I am a bit of an amateur photographer, so I decided to see how fast it could print a 4X6 color photo. I "put the watch to it", and it printed the photo in about 45 seconds! I was impressed! The resolution was fantastic as well. Apparently, Canon is famous for image quality.

The Canon Pixma MP470 powers up in a "flash,"too! My old Epson took FOREVER to power up. I haven't used too many scanners in my day, but the scanner in this model seemed to have good resolution and speed.

Also, You can print directly from memory cards, digital cameras and camera phones, and even enhance your images before you print.

But it is the sharp and crisp text produced by the Canon Mp470, that really blew me away. It seems every bit as sharp as the text produced by our laser printer at work! The same crispness appeared when we used the copier feature, as well.
